The EU wants “control” of the Amsterdam gas market
The introduction of a gas price cap will not be the only proposal coming from Brussels and which will be discussed in the European Council of Energy Ministers the next 9 September. The video games of September 2022 –
Following the release of Madden NFL 23 in August, sports fans will receive the very latest editions of two other long-running sports franchises – NBA 2K and FIFA. We also have the usual remasters and remakes, another Square Enix JRPG, a LEGO-themed fighting game, and another great Nintendo release.

JoJo?s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is a fighting game set in the world of the eponymous manga franchise shonen and seinen. This is a remaster of a game launched in 2013 for PS3, hence the “R” at the end of the title. This re-release, which is coming to all modern platforms, will include all playable characters from the original game and its expansions, plus nine additional base characters and more coming through the season pass. A total of over 50 characters from all of JoJo’s arches will be playable altogether. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R brings expected visual updates, a variety of game modes, gameplay improvements, and new audio recordings from the anime’s Part 6 actors.

LEGO Brawls
Yes, another fighting game. So far, LEGO Brawls has only been available for iOS and MacOS via the Apple Arcade subscription, but this month it’s coming to all modern consoles and PCs. Much like Multiversus, which has been enjoying great success in recent weeks, LEGO Brawls is clearly inspired by Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros., but adds some features not seen in other crossover brawlers. The game allows you to unleash your imagination and create unique LEGO characters as if they were mini figures, using both classic and modern LEGO set parts. It also adds modes not available in other Super Smash Bros. clones, such as the Capture the Flag-style mode where you play on a larger map with the aim of controlling a central point.
LEGO Brawls is out September 2nd for PS5, Xbox Series X | S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. A PC demo is available on Steam and the game has been available for a while on Apple Arcade
The Last of Us Parte I
The Last of Us Part I is a remake developed from the ground up of one of the most iconic PlayStation games, introducing modern gameplay and even more realistic graphics that take advantage of the technical capabilities of the new PS5. Rather than remastering the game again, this new version completely rebuilds it using the latest engine from developer Naughty Dog. Expect not only improved graphics, but also improved controls, mechanical tweaks, and accessibility options that bring everything into Part I on par with its 2020 sequel. Fans were initially skeptical about the need for a remake of The Last of Us. Still, after a few trailers showing welcome improvements, it really feels like the best way to play an essential PlayStation title that, let’s not forget, was originally made available two generations of consoles ago. How time flies, huh? The new version is also a great way to relive this incredible story ahead of HBO’s TV adaptation with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay, which is expected to arrive in 2023.

Judging by the trailers and what we know of its gameplay, Steelrising feels like a mix between the exploration and historical approach of Assassin’s Creed, and the convincing gameplay of Dark Souls. Turning the tide of history with a hi-tech android in revolutionary 18th century Paris: isn’t that cool?

NBA 2K23
The latest version of the basketball simulator is around the corner and promises new modes, refined gameplay and special rewards. NBA 2K23 will bring the Jordan Challenge mode back to life, originally introduced in NBA 2K11. 12 years later, players will once again be able to recreate not just 10 but 15 of Air Jordan’s most iconic career moments, five of which are all new to the series. The new chapter also comes with AI improvements and reworked controls to enhance realism, all while keeping the control scheme simple and welcoming for newbies. Pre-orders are already open and come with digital perks, including free virtual currency, MyTeam points and promo packages, boosts and a 95-valued Devin Booker free agent card, complete with jersey.

At launch, there will be 12 arenas to fight in, eight of which are all new. More game maps should be on the way after Splatoon 3 is released. The co-op mode, introduced in the previous chapter, is back in the new: in this mode, four players will have to work together to defeat strange creatures called Salmonids and they will recover as many golden eggs as possible.

Metal: Hellsinger is a rhythm first-person shooter game, where you attack evil enemies in time to the beat of the game’s heavy metal soundtrack. At launch, Metal: Hellsinger will include 10 heavy metal songs written, produced and performed specifically for the game’s seven levels by nine different artists. Return to Monkey Island
Monkey Island will return for a sixth iteration of the pirate series, after a 13-year hiatus. Return to Monkey Island picks up the story from the ending of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge, but will include references to later games as well. The new point and click adventure will revisit locations well known to fans such as Mêlée Island and the title Monkey Island, adding new areas to explore. Entirely new locations such as Terror Island and Brr Muda will also be in the game. Return to Monkey Island will see several characters reappear, including protagonist Guybrush Threepwood, with many voice actors reprising their roles.

The DioField Chronicle
The DioField Chronicle is an all-new strategic RPG and the first of many releases that publisher Square Enix has planned for the last few months of 2022. The new game will be followed by the launch of Valkyrie Elysium, the third iteration of the action RPG series, at end of this month for PS4 and PS5, and in October for PC. The DioField Chronicle will offer the typical JRPG setting of a medieval fantasy world with lots of epic battles to participate in. The game world will include 16 playable characters and a main story that will last 30-40 hours. This new RPG promises an innovative real-time battle system, deep strategic gameplay and stunning diorama-style graphics, while its epic soundtrack comes from Game of Thrones composers Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell. The game pre-orders are open and it will be released along with a board game version as a bonus for the collector’s edition.

FIFA 23
It’s September, so it’s time for EA Sports to launch its very latest vision of football with the annual licensed simulator, FIFA 23. This will be the last chapter under the FIFA brand after ball government and Electronic Arts are separated at the beginning of the year, and the publisher announced that it will move to the EA Sports FC brand as the title of the franchise from 2023. “The last FIFA” comes with many changes and improvements: a new look for the grass, HyperMotion2 with more realistic and less predictable player animations, an improved Career mode, the fusion of Volta and Pro Club and? the return of Juventus after a three-year hiatus. FIFA Ultimate Team, the most popular game mode, will see significant changes to the Entente system, cross-play will be extended with PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and Stadia players sharing the same market, and there will be a new single-player mode called FUT Moments for casual gamers.

September is here, and as we approach the end of the year, publishers are starting to increase the number of their releases with more (and bigger) titles. The next month is not as crowded with new games, but quality for all tastes is certainly not lacking.
The video games of September 2022 –
Following the release of Madden NFL 23 in August, sports fans will receive the very latest editions of two other long-running sports franchises – NBA 2K and FIFA. We also have the usual remasters and remakes, another Square Enix JRPG, a LEGO-themed fighting game, and another great Nintendo release.

JoJo?s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is a fighting game set in the world of the eponymous manga franchise shonen and seinen. This is a remaster of a game launched in 2013 for PS3, hence the “R” at the end of the title. This re-release, which is coming to all modern platforms, will include all playable characters from the original game and its expansions, plus nine additional base characters and more coming through the season pass. A total of over 50 characters from all of JoJo’s arches will be playable altogether. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R brings expected visual updates, a variety of game modes, gameplay improvements, and new audio recordings from the anime’s Part 6 actors.

LEGO Brawls
Yes, another fighting game. So far, LEGO Brawls has only been available for iOS and MacOS via the Apple Arcade subscription, but this month it’s coming to all modern consoles and PCs. Much like Multiversus, which has been enjoying great success in recent weeks, LEGO Brawls is clearly inspired by Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros., but adds some features not seen in other crossover brawlers. The game allows you to unleash your imagination and create unique LEGO characters as if they were mini figures, using both classic and modern LEGO set parts. It also adds modes not available in other Super Smash Bros. clones, such as the Capture the Flag-style mode where you play on a larger map with the aim of controlling a central point.
LEGO Brawls is out September 2nd for PS5, Xbox Series X | S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. A PC demo is available on Steam and the game has been available for a while on Apple Arcade
The Last of Us Parte I
The Last of Us Part I is a remake developed from the ground up of one of the most iconic PlayStation games, introducing modern gameplay and even more realistic graphics that take advantage of the technical capabilities of the new PS5. Rather than remastering the game again, this new version completely rebuilds it using the latest engine from developer Naughty Dog. Expect not only improved graphics, but also improved controls, mechanical tweaks, and accessibility options that bring everything into Part I on par with its 2020 sequel. Fans were initially skeptical about the need for a remake of The Last of Us. Still, after a few trailers showing welcome improvements, it really feels like the best way to play an essential PlayStation title that, let’s not forget, was originally made available two generations of consoles ago. How time flies, huh? The new version is also a great way to relive this incredible story ahead of HBO’s TV adaptation with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay, which is expected to arrive in 2023.

Steelrising
Steelrising presents an alternate version of the French Revolution in which King Louis XVI managed to quell the revolt using a merciless robot army. Players will take on the role of Aegis, a rebellious robot who must confront the King’s forces alone and save history as we know it. The action RPG promises versatile gameplay that will accommodate a variety of play styles, thanks to Aegis’ varied skills and weapon sets. Along the way, you will also encounter historical figures such as Marie Antoinette, Lafayette and Robespierre, whose motives and alliances will not be clear. Judging by the trailers and what we know of its gameplay, Steelrising feels like a mix between the exploration and historical approach of Assassin’s Creed, and the convincing gameplay of Dark Souls. Turning the tide of history with a hi-tech android in revolutionary 18th century Paris: isn’t that cool?

NBA 2K23
The latest version of the basketball simulator is around the corner and promises new modes, refined gameplay and special rewards. NBA 2K23 will bring the Jordan Challenge mode back to life, originally introduced in NBA 2K11. 12 years later, players will once again be able to recreate not just 10 but 15 of Air Jordan’s most iconic career moments, five of which are all new to the series. The new chapter also comes with AI improvements and reworked controls to enhance realism, all while keeping the control scheme simple and welcoming for newbies. Pre-orders are already open and come with digital perks, including free virtual currency, MyTeam points and promo packages, boosts and a 95-valued Devin Booker free agent card, complete with jersey.

Qualifier Wu Yibing, on the other hand, wrote Chinese tennis history. The 22-year-old was the first Chinese to win a game at the US Open in the professional era with his three-set win against Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili (6:3 6:4 6:0). The last time a male tennis player from the huge empire was able to win a Grand Slam game was 63 years ago (Mei Fu Chi in Wimbledon).
Wu had already triumphed at the US Open in 2017 in the juniors in singles and doubles. Still, his win against No. 31 seed Basilashvili comes as a surprise. Wu, who only made it into the top 200 in the world rankings in July, will meet Portuguese Nuno Borges in the second round.

Sometimes, unwieldy legal jargon hides weighty decisions with major social implications. The continuation declaratory action heard on September 7th at the Dresden Administrative Court is such a case. Because it is decided about the future of the martial arts event “Kampf der Nibelungen” – KdN for short – which had developed into the flagship of militant neo-Nazism at the end of the 2010s. It is a procedure of outstanding political importance.
Largest right-wing extremist martial arts event in Europe
The “Battle of the Nibelungs” was founded in 2013 by right-wing extremists and grew in just a few years to become the largest martial arts event of militant neo-Nazism in Europe. While the first events took place in front of 120 spectators at a secret location, almost 1,000 people attended the KdN 2018 in Ostritz, Saxony – including neo-Nazi families, right-wing extremist hooligan groups and convicted violent criminals with contacts to the right-wing terrorist National Socialist underground NSU. On top of that, a thriving business in violence developed. KdN’s T-shirts became a blockbuster in the scene.
For a long time, no one made a secret of the ideology: on the KdN website, liberal democracy was insulted as a ?rotten political system?, and in scene magazines racist minds agitated against the ?multicultural cesspool? of the Federal Republic. The militant neo-Nazi group “BaltikKorps” from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which is close to the KdN, even ranted about day X – the day of the political revolution.
Ban 2019 put an end to the soaring
All of this drew attention not only from the media, but also from the state. In October 2019, the Ostritz municipality banned the event, and the recordings for the online stream of the KdN 2020 in Magdeburg were disrupted by a raid. Groups like Baltik Korps were banned by the state. The high flight of the KdN came to an abrupt end.

The legality of the Ostritzer ban from 2019 is now before the administrative court in Dresden on September 7th. The KdN cadres have meanwhile done a lot to underpin their self-portrayal as a harmless “national sporting event”: Since the ban, they have largely stopped racist diatribes in the relevant scene media, posted many pictures of blond women on social media and removed the sentences about the “rotten political system? from the homepage. The brown violent wolf has eaten a lot of white sports chalk.
With trivialization back in public
The strategy behind it is clear: one’s own ideology is played down in order to be able to build on previous successes with future events. Because the cadres of militant neo-Nazism know only too well how important the KdN is for the professionalization of extreme right-wing violence. The KdN is the flagship of martial arts in militant neo-Nazism – a milieu that the political scientist Hajo Funke calls “pre-terrorist”.
The Administrative Court of Dresden does not only decide on the question of whether further events of the “Battle of the Nibelungs” can take place in Saxony. A decision is made that will point the way for the future development of militant neo-Nazism and its violence in Germany. Hopefully the court is aware of this.
